Tashkent-Plaza

Toshkent Plaza is a historically significant public and architectural landmark of Tashkent, located on Amir Temur Avenue. The building forms part of a major international business and public complex that was developed in the capital in the late 1990s. History The Toshkent Plaza building was constructed in 1999, during a period when Tashkent was developing a new international business and public infrastructure. The building was created as part of the International Trade and Exhibition Complex established in the area of Amir Temur Avenue. The complex included the InterContinental Hotel, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity, the International Business Center, and the Toshkent Plaza shopping center. The development of this complex represented an important stage in the transformation of Tashkent into a modern center for international business, trade, exhibitions, and public events. Toshkent Plaza was originally designed as a multifunctional trade and exhibition facility. The building included retail and public spaces, administrative premises, and other functional areas. Architectural Design The building was designed by architect A. Tukhtaev. The architectural and spatial concept of Toshkent Plaza was centered around an enclosed interior atrium, which served as one of the principal elements of the building's public space. The central atrium connected different functional areas and contributed to the building's distinctive interior character. The building consists of two above-ground floors, together with an underground storage area. The total area of the retail premises exceeded 3,000 square meters. One of the distinctive features of the interior was the central space complemented by a pool and fountain. This architectural solution created an open and expressive public environment within the building and emphasized its multifunctional character. The architectural concept of Toshkent Plaza reflected the contemporary principles of its period, combining functional planning, spacious public areas, and an expressive architectural composition. Its location on Amir Temur Avenue also gave the building urban-planning significance. Toshkent Plaza became part of the architectural ensemble formed around the International Business Center and one of the notable landmarks of the developing business district of Tashkent.
